GET REAL FINANCIAL REALITY FAIRS
At the Fair, students get a feel for real-life budgeting. The student’s goal is to stay within budget; in other words, still have money left in their pockets after paying all their bills for the month. So far this year MVFCU has sponsored 13 Fairs with 239 community volunteers!
Some interesting comments from students include:
“Save for emergencies now AND save for retirement.”
“Don’t listen to salesman, you can tell them no!”
“I’ve never created a budget before, but I will now!”
“I learned quickly if I spend like this, I will be a broke adult..”
“I didn’t NEED the Raptor…but I wanted the Raptor!”
“Focus more on my needs than my wants.”
“I will not be intimidated by salesmen anymore! I’ll tell them no!”
“I was TOO cautious. I could have spent more on things to make
life fun.”
